A visionary before his time, it is to Dr. Newton Peiris that the Royal International School owes a great deal of gratitude to for without his knowledge, his vision and his hard work, we would not exist! Now working as a consultant to the Ministry of Indigenous Medicine, RIS remains secure that we have access to his prodigious mind. With an education background from prestigious Universities, from the Charles University (Czech Republic), the Freie Universität Berlin (Germany) and the University of Cambridge (the United Kingdom), Dr. Newton Peiris is the ideal source of fresh ideas and input, not to mention encouragement as RIS strives to reach the high standards he has set for himself and therefore by extension, for others too.

Attorney-at-Law, Founder of Selyn, a fair-trade certified handloom company and now the Managing Director of Royal International School, Mrs. Wanduragala has built a reputation as a very successful entrepreneur, having several Sri Lankan Woman Entrepreneur Awards awarded to her.

 

Her vision for the school is clear; to make it one of the best schools in the island while keeping true to our roots. As she likes to say; RIS is an International School with a Sri Lankan heart! We at RIS are proud to say that we have a truly inspirational leader and with her at the helm, anything is possible.

 

 

 

Director of Administration

 

 

               Major General Sunil D Tennakoon

 

Mr Tennakoon, as he is generally known at school, has had a long and distinguished career in the Sri Lankan Army where he excelled in many areas of operations.

 

His mantra:

 

'To render the best possible service and contribute towards achieving the organisational goals and objectives of the school'

 

Mr Tennakoon has high professional standards, is solution focused with very strong leadership skills. He works with integrity and dedication, has excellent organisational and management skills which he is using to great effect at the school, establishing well thought out and executed procedures to streamline the school administration.

 

His broad spectrum of skills includes negotiation, audits, evaluations, policy making, welfare and disciplinary procedures. On the lighter side, he is a wonderful singer!

 

 

 

Principal

 

 

                Madam Chandrika Atmaram

 

We are privileged to have such a dynamic and committed Principal as Ms. Chandrika G Atmaram, she has been an educationalist for many years with extensive administrative experience both in the Educational and Commercial fields enabling her to establish a seamless operation with the administrative needs of the school.

 

During her career she has taught English Language and the Social Sciences across all age ranges, she is a qualified IGCSE English teacher and a Montessori Trainer for English and Primary Teaching.

 

Madam Principals' driving passion is to:

 

'share knowledge with a new generation as a facilitator, teacher and mentor'.

 

Madam Principal's experience is wide ranging being both multi-ethnic and multi-cultural, she speaks English, Tamil, Hindi and Malayalam.
