Admissions

 

Enrolling  your child at RIS

 

Parents/Guardians wishing to enrol their child are required to fill in an Application Form (the form can be downloaded here or  a copy can be collected from the School Head Office at 3 Old Rest House Road, Kurunegala.

Our School Academic year commences from January to December. Usually for Applications are called during the months of Oct - Dec. each year. Students will be admitted to school on the basis of the age limit.

If your child is :

 

  • 2 or 2 + - Toddler

  • 3 or 3 + - Nursery

  • 4 or 4 + - LKG

  • 5 or 5 + - UKG

  • 6 or 6 + - 1

  • 7 or 7 + - 2

  • 8 or 8 + - 3

  • 9 or 9 + - 4

  • 10 or 10  + - 5

  • 11 or 11  + - 6

  • 12 or 12  + - 7

  • 13 or 13  + - 8

  • 14 or 14  + - 9

  • 15 or 15  + - 10

 

Admission to Play Group to Nursery:

 

The necessary documents required at the time of admission:

 

  • Copy of the Birth Certificate (Parents should produce the Original Birth Certificate at the enrolment)

  • Two Passport Size Photographs

  • On submission of the application, an Interview will be conducted by Director of Administration, to explain the rules and regulations of the school, and to get to know about the child's family background.

  • On the recommendation of the Management the admission will be granted.

 

Admission to Lower Kindergarten (LKG)/Upper Kindergarten (UKG)

 

The necessary documents required at the time of admission:

 

  • Copy of the Birth Certificate (Parents should produce the Original Birth Certificate at the enrolment)

  • Two Passport Size Photographs

  • On submission of the application, the child has to be sit for the Placement test.

  • On the performance of the placement test will conduct an interview and on the recommendation of the Management, the admission will be granted.

  • There will be a placement test for students who want to enrol from LKG upwards.

  • On the performance of the placement test we will decide whether the student is familiar with our curriculum and whether she/he needs extra attention to enrol in the grade according to his/her age.

 

From Upper Kindergarten (UKG) to Grade1

 

PARENTS PLEASE NOTE

 

If, after graduating from the Nursery section, you wish your child to be enrolled at the Primary School a fresh admission form must be submitted, as above. It is not automatic for your child to be admitted to the Primary School.

No automatic transfers/promotions from Upper Kindergarten to Grade 1 are granted.

 

Admission to Grade 1 - 5 (Primary Section)

 

The necessary documents required at the time of admission:

  • Copy of the Birth Certificate (Parents should produce the Original Birth Certificate at the enrolment)

  • Two Passport Size Photographs

  • Leaving Certificate from the previous school attended

  • Copy of a current Bank statement of the Parent

  • On submission of the application the child has to be sit for the Placement test conducted by the Sectional Heads.

  • On the result of the placement test and the recommendation of the sectional heads an interview/discussion will be held up with the Principal /Director of Administration and the admission will be granted.

 

Admission to Grade 6 - 13 (Junior Secondary & Secondary Sections)

 

The necessary documents required at the time of admission:

Copy of the Birth Certificate (Parents should produce the Original Birth Certificate at the enrolment)

Two Passport Size Photographs

Leaving Certificate from the previous school attended

Copy of a current Bank statement of the Parent

Students who are seeking enrolment for GCE A Level or Edexcel Classes have to produce the original Certificate which they obtained from the relevant Examination Board.

On submission of the application, there will be an interview with the Principal/Director of Administration

The child has to sit the Placement test conducted by the Sectional Heads.

On the results of the placement test and the recommendation of the Principal/Director of Administration admission will be granted.

N.B: If there are no vacancies in the particular class, student will be put on a waiting list until there is a placement.

 

General Information

 

  • School fess should be paid on time and in advance

  • A 5% discount is offered if a term (or longer) fee is paid in full in advance - at least 1 (one) week before term commences

  • A 10% surcharge will be levied if fees are not paid in full prior to the end of the previous month

  • Credit card facilities are provided

  • Copy of parents latest bank statement

  • 2 (two) months prior notice, in writing, should be submitted to the Principal by the Parent/Guardian who intends to withdraw a student

  • Failure to do this will mean the forfeit of the refundable deposit.

 

Once your child is enrolled we advise Parents/Guardians to :

 

  • Maintain a file for all correspondence with the School

  • Bring this file with the child's Progress Report, with you to any meeting with the Principal

  • Parents/Guardians can meet the Managing Director, Director of Administration or Principal by prior appointment

  • Parent/Teacher meetings are generally held at the end of each term

  • Study the School Disciplinary Code thoroughly
